Pauline Bailey was my secretary when I served as vice chancellor at the Maricopa Community Colleges. She was a wonderful secretary: intelligent, focused, hard-working, efficient. She was a perfect lady… and still is. In many ways, she made me look good. ¡Gracias, Pauline!

Alfredo’s Rules. When I came to the MCCCD, I felt uneasy because some employees were not doing quality work. I developed my “rules” in cooperation with the people who worked in my office. Soon the fact that we had developed the rules spread throughout the district office and the colleges.
